About Honeywell Educators at Space Academy

For math and science teachers, Honeywell Educators at Space Academy (HESA) is a dream come true! Imagine the opportunity to learn about space and science by spending five incredible days at the world’s premiere space learning center.

AcademyCreated in partnership with the U.S. Space & Rocket Center (USSRC), this professional development program is designed to help middle school math and science teachers from around the world become more effective educators in science, technology, engineering, and math. Educators are empowered with supplemental teaching techniques through simulated astronaut training and innovative educational tools that help bring science to life in the classroom.

An Unforgettable Learning Experience

Educators learn how to reinvigorate their classrooms with ideas, lessons, and other materials to create an unforgettable learning experience for the next generation of scientists. During this five-day program, educators participate in 45 hours of intensive classroom, laboratory, and training time, focusing on space science and exploration. Teachers learn through simulated astronaut training and activities designed to promote life-long learning in a classroom setting.

Since 2004, over 2,776 educators from 62 countries, 52 U.S. states and territories have graduated from the program.

The U.S. Space & Rocket Center

HESA takes place at the USSRC in Huntsville, Alabama. The USSRC is recognized as one of the most comprehensive U.S. manned space flight hardware museums in the world. Facilities at the center include Spacedome Theater, Rocket Park, the Education Training Center (NASA’s Educator Resource Center) — and more!

Visitors to the museum can experience a full-spectrum of U.S. space exploration activities, including the space race, the Apollo missions, the Space Shuttle program, the International Space Station, and upcoming NASA programs.
